Scientific interests

The past scientific activity pertains the field of  information and coding theory (source coding, concatenated and variable length codes, adaptive coding, asymptotic bounds for error correcting codes), cryptography (pseudo-random generation and stream ciphers), neural networks (Hopfield model and applications) and application of possibility theory to transmission channel. Recently F. Fabris changed the field of interests, by studying the connexions  between information theory, bioinformatics and molecular biology, and the application of information theory and fuzzy mathematics to problems in the medical field, in particular Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI), the evaluation of the diagnostic tests quality and the finding of useful interfaces that are able to detect and predict the occurring of breathing asynchronies, or the development of tools to test the deep of anaesthesia in patients with mechanical ventilation
