Massimiliano Comisso was born in Trieste, Italy, on January 23rd 1973. He received the degree of "Laurea" in Electronic Engineering from the University of Trieste discussing the thesis "Fractal Antennas" (tutor: prof. Lucio Manià). He worked for Alcatel in the field of optical communication systems and for Enteos in the field of microstrip antenna design. On January 2005 he joined the Telecommunication Group at the Department of Electrotechnic, Electronic, and Information (DEEI) of the University of Trieste and in 2008 he attained the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering discussing the thesis " Beamforming Techniques for Wireless Communications in Low-Rank Channels: Analytical Models and Synthesis Algorithms" (tutor: prof. Fulvio Babich). Currently Massimiliano Comisso is Postdoctoral Researcher in Information Technology at the Department of Industrial and Information Engineering (DI3) of the University of Trieste and cooperates with Danieli Automation in the field of electromagnetic sensors' modeling and development.
He is also IEEE Member of the Communications Society and of the Antennas and Propagation Society. He is author/coauthor of more than 40 scientific papers including international journals and international conferences. He serves as reviewer for several international journals and conferences, and has been member of the Technical Program Committee for GLOBECOM 2007, ICC 2011, and ACC 2011. Massimiliano Comisso has been Best Student Paper Award Finalist at GLOBECOM 2006 and has received the Best Paper Award at CAMAD 2009. His research studies involve smart antenna techniques, MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) systems, ad-hoc and wireless mesh networks, antenna array synthesis, fractal antenna analysis and patch antenna design. His extra-professional interests involve speleology and chinese wushu.
