TABA

Aims

At present, at least 58 Central Nervous System diseases, have a suspected or confirmed autoimmune etiology for a total amount of about 75 millions of patients diagnosed in the world.
For most of these pathologies there are no diagnostic laboratory tests available.
The purpose of this project is to offer a simple, broad spectrum, test for the detection of anti-neural autoantibodies to be used as an entry test at the first diagnostic level.

What does it contain?

TABA is a database of high definition photo images of rat brain sections collected for all the patients' sera received in the laboratory for the anti-neural autoantibodies test.
As described in the METHODS section, it also contains information about the structure and doctor of reference, other patient's serum analysis and the refert based on a semi-quantitative automate immunohistochemistry.
The report is accessible only after a user name and password access.

What does it NOT contain?

In respect of the Italian law (d.lgs. 196/2003) TABA does NOT contain any personal data that may allow to recognize the identity of any patient whose serum is included in the database.
Patient's identity is known exclusively by their doctor.

To whom is it addressed?

TABA is addressed to hospitals and diagnostic laboratories having in charge neurological patients, and to pharmaceutical companies interested in monitoring immunosuppressive drugs.
Private citizen can request the test, but only after medical consult.
