Roles at the University of Trieste

Marina Sbisà served on several occasions as Coordinator or Vice-Coordinator of study programs at BA, MA and PhD level.

She was a member of the CIRD (Interdepartmental Center for Research on Teaching), University of Trieste, and the Coordinator of the CIMeL (Interdepartmental Center for Research on Mind and Language).

In 2012-2015 she served as the Head of the Department of Humanities and a member of the Academic Senate.

Research

Her research has been concerned with

- the philosophy of language of Wittgenstein, Austin, and Grice

- the philosophy of J.L. Austin and how it contributes to various philosophical issues

- pragmatics (speech act theory, presupposition, implicature)

- gender studies (the feminine subject, critique of the stereotype of the Mother, gender and language)

narrative semiotics and discourse analysis (analyses of selected samples or corpora from conversations, the press, TV or social networks, literary texts, especially in the fields of political discourse, scientific information, L1 teaching, and gender relations)

- linguistic and cultural identities.

She is a member of the Editorial Board of the series "Pragmatics and Beyond" (John Benjamins, Amsterdam) and of the series “Archivio delle Filosofe” promoted by SWIP Italy and published online by EUT, Trieste.
