This is the Web site of the Forensic Image Processing with Synchrotron Radiation project.
The project is funded by Prefettura, Ufficio Territoriale del Governo di Trieste "Contributi ambito ricerca universitaria anni 2007-2009".
Forensic experts need specialized light sources to find and make proper use of trace evidence coming form the crime scene. The synchrotron X-Ray and IR wavelengths brightness can be used to reveal and capture latent fingerprint traces not revealed by classical techniques. Proper image processing techniques are being investigated to obtain meaningful information from the images acquired by the different techniques available in the synchrotron setup.
