Financial support and structure
The centre has its own financial support in addition to that provided by the University of Trieste and MURST
and is organised in three closely linked sections:
i) expression and purification of proteins
ii) biocrystallography
iii) computer modelling
as indicated in the black rectangles in the Scheme.
The available apparatuses are included in red ellipsoids and the techniques and expertises are represented in
the blu rectangles and all the connections indicated by coloured arrows in the Scheme.
The activity is ensured by three projects of CEB which have been funded for three years within the FIRB programme (Fondo per gli Investimenti della Ricerca di Base). These projects are entitled:
Molecular targets in higher protein complexes transmitting metabolic, proliferative and inflammatory signals;
Structural characterization of protein targets for disease and studies of molecular basis for the specificity of candidate drugs;
Tuning of self assembly of porphyrins.
Another project, entitled Structure and function of supramolecular models of metalloproteins, has been funded for two years within the Cofin 2003 programme (Progetti di Ricerca d’Interesse Nazionale).
