The Programme in Neuroscience and Cognitive Neurosciences aims to offer a competitive PhD title. The PhD course consists of two specialised curricula: Neurobiology and Psychology. Students can pursue their research activities in three main fields: Molecular and cellular neurosciences, Applied and clinical neurosciences, Neuropsychology and cognitive sciences. Teaching includes lectures, seminars and annual activity reports involving invited foreign scientists. Students are encouraged to complete their preparation not only at the University of Trieste but collaborating nationally and internationally. The PhD course supports students in presenting their results at national and international congresses.
Applicants can apply for one or both curricula. In addition to the documents required by the Registrar's Department, also required is a curriculum vitae et studiorum, a list of publications (if any), an abstract of the degree thesis (not exceeding 4000 characters), one or more reference letters and any other relevant information or documents.
Admission is given on merit after evaluation of the titles and an interview, where the knowledge of English is also assessed.

L'indirizzo di Neurobiologia ha l'obiettivo di formare figure professionali qualificate in campi della ricerca quali la neurobiologia molecolare e cellulare, i processi di neurogenesi e riparazione del sistema nervoso, le neuroscienze applicate e cliniche e la fisiopatologia delle principali malattie neurodegenerative.

L'indirizzo di Psicologia ha l'obiettivo di formare degli specialisti in una nuova disciplina nata dal convergere di varie scienze naturali, umane e sociali e della filosofia intorno alla ricerca delle origini e dei caratteri fondamentali dell'intelligenza umana ed artificiale e della mente umana in generale.
