Studia Geobotanica. Established in 1980, edited by the Department of Biology,
University of Trieste, sect. "Geobotany and Plant Ecology".
The Journal publishes original papers in the field of Geobotany, reviews of published works, short communications, summaries of proceedings and large monographs.
Manuscripts are evaluated by reviewers whose decision is binding.

STUDIA GEOBOTANICA publishes original articles in the field of Geobotany. It also publishes reviews of published works, short communications, notices of scientific meetings and summaries of proceedings. Manuscripts are considered for publication under the assumption that they have not been published elsewhere. Manuscripts are evaluated by reviewers whose decision is binding. Published articles are the property of STUDIA GEOBOTANICA.
MANUSCRIPTS should be submitted in triplicate including tables and figures to the Editorial Office. The Secretary will confirm receipt of the manuscript. The suitability of submitted manuscripts will be judged by appropriate members of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Office will inform authors of the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts or the need for substantial revisions or reduction. Manuscript should be typed on white bond paper A4 format. All pages should be numbered. After acceptance, please send also one copy on a 3.5" PC compatible disk based on Microsoft Word97 or more recent versions.
LANGUAGE should be preferably English. Italian, German, French and Spanish are also accepted.
The TITLE should be informative and brief. The name(s) (given name-surname) of the author(s) should be placed below the title. References to research projects, institutional publication numbers, etc. should be placed in the Acknowledgements at the end of the main text.
KEYWORDS, no more than 6, in English, should be placed on the title page in alphabetical order.
ABSTRACT. An English abstract must be included. For non English text, the abstract must include the title (in small capitals). A summary in a second language may also be added; it should not exceed one manuscript page and is placed before the acknowledgements.
The MAIN TEXT should be clearly divided into sections (Introduction, Study area, Data & methods, Results). Chapter headings should be given without designations. New paragraphs should be indicated by indentation. Footnotes should be avoided.
APPENDICES with lists of localities, sporadic species of relevés, etc. should be placed at the end of the main text. On all points of style please consult recent copies of the journal.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS and dedications should be simply phrased and given before the references.
REFERENCES to articles and books should be limited to published
works. Citation of references in the text: Dolcher & Pignatti (1971)
or (Fukarek 1977; Clotet et al. 1988; Podani & Borhidi 1989).

List in alphabetic sequence with: single authors, by date; two authors, alphabetically, then by date; three or more authors by date only.
TABLES should be typed on separate pages, and not in the text itself. They should be submitted in camera-ready form to be reduced to page-size. Large tables should be prepared in the same way. Tables must be numbered. Author name(s) and table number should be written in pencil on each table and table copy. Title and legend to the tables should be typed on one or more separate pages.
ILLUSTRATIONS. Figures such as drawings and graphs should be
done in India ink on smooth tracing paper. Names, numbers or other
symbols should also be written in India ink or, preferably, by a
similar system. Reduction of these figures should be taken into
account when preparing the lettering (space for the figures: 226 x 157
mm). All figures should be numbered. Author name(s) and figure number
should be written in pencil on each figure and figure copy. Title
and legend to the figures should be typed on one or more separate
pages.
Legends to figures and tables are given both in the language of the main text and in English.
Plates, when used, should be numbered and supplied with informative title and legend as the figures.
FURTHER NOTES. Words to be italicized should be underlined.
Complete scientific names must be cited at first mention, thereafter
the generic name may be abbreviated to the initial except at the
beginning of a sentence or where the abbreviation might result in
confusion with other genera. For guidance on units, symbols, chemical
nomenclature and abbreviations consult Instructions to authors for
The New Phytologist.
Running titles will be added by the Editorial Office after formal acceptance of the work.
